Reebok
The Reebok brand holds a reputation for simple athletics footwear with an authentic approach
Reebok is a global provider of footwear and apparel operating as a subsidiary of adidas. In recent years the brand has experienced somewhat of a resurgence with specifically the Reebok classic defying conventions and become a simple trend staple. The reinvention of 'the Classic' as a sneaker that was deemed to be conventional and fashionable followed in the footsteps of many other brands that often had negative connotations associations made to themselves. This reinvention is something we’ve experienced with the likes of Fila, Ellesse, and Champion.
After initially being established in Bolton, Lancashire in 1958 with footwear featured a Union Jack that is still apparent on many of their classic sneakers and footwear to this day.
The brand has largely been associated with fitness and Crossfit in recent years but has always held strong associations to football, boxing, and athletics with Victoria Beckham working as a designer for the brand.
In 2018 we’ve experienced the diversification of the brand that has been a common trend among streetwear manufacturers tapping into the growing online sneaker culture of consumers looking to purchase rare and limited additions items. In light of this, we’ve witnessed them teaming up with the likes of Gosha Rubchinsky, Vetements, Kendrick Lamar as well as Palace Skateboards. The post-modern approach to design and product development highlights Reebok as one of the most established and respected brands in the streetwear world.
