We have some grails inbound for all you sneakerheads, three variations of the Uptempo are arriving into the store. The classic '94, '95 and the fabled '96, Nike are bringing back the legends in the cleanest way possible. This pack features the three sneakers in a summer ready 'triple white' rendering, featuring all leather uppers for that full premium effect. Crisp white renditions detract the sneaker of all its brash colours ridding and focuses on the form and functionality that has been through great consideration and processes that make each shoe individual.
The Nike Air More Uptempo is an insanely popular basketball sneaker that debuted originally in 1996. Over time they have developed a cult-like following and have become really big sellers. The main thing that sparked off the iconic creps was the bold “AIR” lettering on the flanks. It was designed by Wilson Smith who's aim for the sneaker was simple, “How can we just let the world know and express it as well as we can?” and he figured it out, by brandishing AIR from the heel to toe emphasising the air unit in the heel. He even drew inspiration from oversized objects such as graffiti and pop art which was the trend for the times, it doesn't follow the premise that less is more, not at all, because more is definitely more isn't it, the Nike Air More Uptempo took branding.
Their status was heightened further by Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen who rocked them predominantly throughout the 1995-1996 season and famously in the 1996 Olympic's where he wore a special colourway for the games that were last released in 2012.
Earlier this year they have been brought back to the attention in the public eye as they were hyped up across all social platforms when Nike announced that they were collaborating with one of the most iconic brands out there, Supreme New York. This release came with three strong colourways (Red/White, Triple Black, & Gold) it introduced a whole new wave of styles being created thanks to the diverse range of customers they have.
Now typically when you think of what to wear with Uptempo's its activewear, such as joggers or shorts, with bold all-over prints, they style swings towards heavy streetwear style. We want to go against the grain as you can go online and find generic photos of how to wear them like that, we want to take a minimal, more mature approach and treat them with respect.
Oliver has chosen to style the Air More Uptempo '96 with a fitted Oxford Shirt in Blue with rolled up dickies for a classic workwear style, the sneakers replace the typical boots that is worn with this aesthetic and does the job just as well and definitely provides more comfort.
Callum has Styled the Air Max Uptempo '95, with some loose Navy chinos, matched with a classic marled grey sweatshirt to tone down the bright white of the sneakers and adding a more casual element to the fit, finished with a grey sports cap. A street ready, easy to wear look that almost anyone to re-create and match with any pair in your rotation.
Callum has then paired the Air Max 2 Uptempo '94 withcrisp selvedge denim, rolled just above the ankle giving these a little more of a Summer look. Paired up with a classic grey crew neck t-shirt & an on trend power pink coaches jacket. A taste of mid 90s Summer that you just can’t ignore.
The minimal tones and lack of colour in the outfit provide a seamless look that doesn't overcrowd each other, the shoes themselves are loud in style but thanks to them being all white it detracts all the attention and creates a really clean look that doesn't grasp people's attention immediately, this style doesn't seek out attention, it earns it and is appreciated by all.
This pack is releasing at 08:00 am BST on (26/5/17) so make sure to keep yourself in the know so you don't miss copping some heat as these will be selling fast.
