Sneaker Focus: Nike Air Huarache Ultra SI

Have you hugged your foot today?” – The statement that reverberates around the Huarache world.

First released in 1991 the Huarache has been an absolute iconic trainer since day one. These sneakers still look futuristic 20 years down the line due to the wonderfully obscure midsole and upper. The huaraches have had a lot of hype in recent times because of their clean colourways mixed with the foot hugging comfort they provide.

Taking inspiration from water skiing shoes (Yes, water skiing) due to the way they nestle the wearer's foot like a sock thanks to the neoprene/spandex upper. Designed by the legend himself, Tinker Hatfield. The man who has produced an ocean of timeless sneaks including Jordan’s, Air Max 1’s, Air Mags and of course these fresh kicks you are reading about.

This latest release consists of a clean contemporary colourway in Black/Ivory. Boasting a premium all leather upper with a rubber huarache logo on the tongue. Subtle ‘Nike’ detailing on the heel strap keeps the focus on the trainers and their technology which is the norm for huaraches as they don’t rock the typical swoosh which is seen on most Nike models. The textile lining adds a first-class touch and cleanly breaks the shoe apart due to the thick stitching adding more levels to the shoes upper. The phylon midsole adds durable comfort for everyday usage and when I tried these on when they arrived in the store I was more than astounded by how much they literally hug your foot.
