‘For The People’ is a social design experiment conducted by New York boutique Extra Butter to give the masses an inside look and chance to participate in the creative process of designing a limited edition sneaker. Extra Butter took to social media to let you cast your votes. Along the way, followers made sneaker history by helping decide shoe model, concept, colourway, material, and even reviewed first-round samples via Periscope livestream.
Rounds of voting and feedback posted on social media gave the general public the power to ultimately decide this project’s theme and art direction, inspired by the American pastime of ‘A Night At The Drive-In’.
The iconic Shadow 5000 takes on the form of classic cars from 50’s Americana, giving this release a truly unique look. Built in full grain leather, Wolverine pigskin suede and patent leather, this Shadow 5000 not only looks but feels great too.
It’s always been noted in the sneaker world that Extra Butter always go the extra mile to ensure their collaborations standout from all the rest, notably with early Saucony projects such as the 3 way ‘Space Snacks’ pack, which took a space theme to another world. This offering is no different including printed insoles and special edition 50’s inspired box. And just in case getting to choose the collaboration direction from day one wasn’t enough make them feel like your own you’ll have the choice of 3 pairs of laces to finish them in your own way.
We love the Extra Butter tongue branding, using a pair of pink rear-view mirror dice to finish off the vintage automotive look.
Get your pair while you can, all sizes are very limited and won’t be around for long.
