The days might be getting longer but there are still occasions where there's still product to shoot after the best light of the day has passed. Most of the time when this happens, I'll break out the flash gun and head off to find a suitable location where I can create some bounce but this week I tried something new; using available artificial lighting.
Street lighting is improving as LED bulbs are becoming more prevalent but the majority of Newcastles streets are still being bathed in a warm orange glow, which provides a terrible quality of light for the type of photography we do at Soleheaven. The source of light in this weeks Photo of the Week was found on a footpath on an overpass above the city streets.
It's high output provided enough light to capture the detail of the sneakers well and whilst the fall off is a little steep, I think it creates an image that really puts the product in focus as well as adding a bit of mystery.
