Introducing the Nike QuickStrike Safari Pack, releasing in the futuristic form of the Nike Sock Dart. Throwing together an Iconic Nike design and a forward-thinking silhouette makes for one intriguing combinational style.
Nike are known for their renowned safari designs which began catching eyes after their first release in 1987 thanks to Tinker Hatfield. As usual Tinker Hatfield gained his inspiration for his first safari print design from something peculiar which in this case was an Ostrich leather couch that he spotted in a prestige furniture shop in New York. This give him the inspiration to bring luxury styles and materials into sports wear creating that fashionable sport hybrid which also debuted a rerelease in 2012 of the original air safari design to celebrate the silver anniversary of the sneaker. Since this point the Safari print has became one of the most iconic and globally recognised creations from Nike.
In 2006 Atmos Japan released a Nike Air Max Safari Animal Pack which consisted of an Air Max 1 and 95. The uppers were layered with panels of many animal prints such as zebra, horse, tiger, pig and leopard. Creating an overall very daring and head turner of a sneaker. The most famous safari print that nike have created to this day has to be the Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant print without hesitation.
Originally released in 2004 the Sock Dart has been a success since its debut and revamped release in 2015. This unique silhouette has been the outcome of the on-going development for the sock-like feature within the Nike sneaker design since the 70’s. Inspiration has been taken from silhouettes such as the Sock Racer in 1985 consisting of a sock formed upper underlined with a futuristic sole. as well as the Air Presto itself which has become a stapled Nike classic.
The Sock Dart’s iteration of the Safari Print is a more minimalistic contemporary design which featured in four different colourways. The Sock Dart has been at the top of the summer must have a list for a few years running now as it is the perfect seasonal rendition with its breathable uppers. Disregarding places this Sock Dart sports a translucent mid strap to lock down the foot. The footprint fitted sole with flex grooves allow maximum comfort for durable traction.
The four colourways available are Turbo Green, White, Gym Red & University Gold which all feature the same leopard like spotted upper. They all feature white midsoles, black outsoles and Nike branding. While the first two colourways use White highlights on the toe cap and heel, the University Gold and Gym Red differ with Black accents.
The Nike Sock Dart Safari Pack will be releasing online at 08:00 am GMT on the 01/05/17 in sizes ranging from UK 7-11.
