Music For the Sole! YO! MTV Raps Special

It's Monday, We've had a big delivery of Van's Freshness, and it's giving us that throw back feeling of the Golden Age of Hip/Hop, so we're doing a shout out to the golden age with YO! MTV Raps. Staying true to host Fab 5 Freddy's name, we're doing a Top 5 performances.

Wu-Tang Clan - Method Man

One of many anthems featured on the all time classic release 'Enter the Wu-Tang(36 Chambers)', The Wu jumped on a later edition of YO! to showcase their skills as true rap Leviathans. It showed that even outside of raps 'Concious' era, YO! was still promoting the best rap around. Sadly no ODB though, as everyone's favourite Dirt McGirt was incarcerated at the time of the performance.

Souls of Mischief - 93' Til Infinity

A-Plus, Opio, Phesto and Tajai were all on point when came to this live performance of their boom bap classic. Nothing comes close to a group Mcs in unison with their energy and intensity , the crowd gets in to it and nothing can come close. Bonus points for dope flannels.

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - T.R.O.Y

Both Mcs kill in this YO! live track. Known more as a producer, Pete Rock kills it in this live version of They Reminisce Over You. Cl Smooth compliments with his namesake flow. A perfect compliment for one another.

Eric B and Rakim - Juice (Know The Ledge)

For a time Rakim was the greatest MC on earth. The God Mc's work with Eric B is still championed as some of the best amongst The Golden Age of Hip Hop. This cut from the album 'Don't Sweat the Technique' showcases the duo at their best.

Leaders Of The New School - International Zone Coaster

Last but not least, We have one of the most quirky and innovative rap crews to birth from the Golden Age. Somewhere between Tribe, De La and The Jungle Brothers, LOTNS were a hilarious group lead by Busta Rhymes. His helacious flow being combined with a solid group behind him. Tensions were always high, and sadly they remain as YO! history with them breaking up live on air. Peep this raucous rendition of one of their classics.
