Le Coq Sportif is a brand that is proud of its heritage and they loves to incorporate their culture into their sneaker designs, this collection "Vallee Blanche" takes us all the way to the picturesque resort of Chamonix which is located at the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy French and at the base of Mont Blanc.
Vallee Blanche is a renowned off-piste ski route in Chamonix which is a staggering 20km long with a vertical descent of 2700m. On the route there is the Requin Hut which is an amazing stop off point for food and drinks as you overlook the Mer De Glace, the views are totally surreal and I recommend the visit to anyone. One of the main attractions is the Cable car that can take you to the Aiguille Du Midi which is 3842m high on Mt Blanc and gives you a full view of the valley.
So with that being said let's move onto the sneakers, consisting of three different styles the Quartz, R800 & Omega, all featuring a neutral Dark Gull Grey base with secondary tones of Frost Grey, what makes these stand out is the Teal tones that feature most prominently on the R800. To me, this colour reflects the colour of the Glacier water that can be seen running through the heart of the resort.
This collection is Made In France so already you know the quality and finishing on the construction is on another level, the Nubuck is perfect and every little detail has been executed in the same fashion. Featuring perforated panelling on all silhouettes as well as the Le Coq branding which is contained within a triangle which resembles a geometric mountain.
Each pair is limited to only 300 pairs worldwide so these are a rare addition to any collection.
We love to immerse ourselves in sneakers and go the extra mile for the ones that have a story behind them. So we wanted to place the Vallee Blanche collection in its inspired habitat especially with the cable car and the surrounding area. We deconstructed integral parts of the Cable Car and used them to further the aesthetic of Vallee Blanche, the reason for this is because the sneakers design has been carefully planned and pieced together so we wanted to further this ideology. Scree slopes can be seen across the Alps and give it the Grey tones that you see on the sneakers, so we decided to use Slate as the layering and infuse mountaineering elements as well as the attractions, which is why there are metallic cables and rope as well as Carabiners as it is a popular destination for climbers.
Releasing at 00:00 am BST 31/09/17 in extremely limited numbers so make sure to be quick when purchasing as you may miss your chance on some stunning sneakers.
