Wally is a true pioneer of House music in Spain, and widely considered to be the most internationally renowned Spanish DJ and producer.
He's been resident at Pacha and Space in Ibiza over recent years and has just completed another hectic season on the white isle.
We've managed to catch up with him back in Madrid to talk sneakers, and to pick up our exclusive Kicks N Mixtape
As this feature is all about Dj's and their love for sneaks, what was your first pair?...Was it love at first sight?
Wow, I think my first pair of sneakers was a spanish brand called Victoria. I was 5 years old and I used to wear it to practice some sports at school. Later, my real and appreciated first pair of sneakers was at 7 years old. It was a pair of Nike and of course it was love at first slight. My mum didn't want to buy it to me but after my insistence she decided to give it to me on my birthday.
Back in your school days, did you ever get jealous of other kids because of their kicks?
Yes, of course! Who didn't get jealous when they were a child? I remember a boy of my class who always wore the best sneakers of the moment. Each two or three months he used to change his pair of sneakers: Nike, Adidas, Rebook... My family couldn't bought me lots of kicks when I was young. We were a humble family.
Are you a box-fresh collector or do you love to wear your favourites? What is your current top pick?
I always wear a pair of kicks but I'm not a collector. I actually wear a pair of Gucci sneakers
Are you loyal to a brand or colourway? Why?
No I'm not. It's true that there are some brands that I prefer to wear, but I am not loyal to some kind of brands.
I prefer to select the sneakers that I like without thinking the brand.
Do you have a favourite city when it comes to picking up new kicks?
Maybe New York or Japan. Miami has a couple of good stores too.
