Keep Em Clean

A few tips to help you keep your prize kicks clean & odour free.

It obvious but easy to forget, always wear your sneakers on rotation. I know they're you're favourites, and you want the world to see them, but if you wear them everyday before you know it they'll get trashed!

The best way to keep em clean is dead simple. Handwash!
Dip a toothbrush in warm, soapy water and gently clense in a circular motion, wipe the mucky foam away with a clean damp cloth.
For the dirt thats ground into the stitching and the rubber sole use a domestic stain remover.
TIP - Always have a toothbrush for white, and a separate brush for colours. You don't want to be contaminating your whites as you'll never get em clean!

If your sneaks are beyond soap & water then there are more specialised products to melt away the grime.
For Suede/Nubuck we recommend products such as cleaning block which gently exfoliates and lifts the dirt.
For Leather use a renovator cream. These often contain colour dyes so use carefully.

If you decide to use the washing machine only ever put canvas or leather sneakers in the machine. Nubuck or Suede will get battered & damaged in the drum.
When it comes to drying them afterwards never use the tumble dryer as the rubber sole will buckle & melt.
Allow them to naturally air dry at room temp. It helps if you pad them out with crumpled newspaper to absorb the moisture, and it will help keep their shape.

Using crumpled newspaper is a good habit to get into, pad out the toeboxs when ever your sneaks go into storage. It will maintain there shape, and hopefully push out some of the small wrinkles & creases!

Once they're sparkling clean, and buffed up spray lighly with a rain guard. This will add a protective layer to help keep em clean, protect them from the elements, and the inevitable beer spilages! Also remember to spray before any camping trips or music festivals.
If your heading to Glastonbury, you've got no chance, just wear a pair you won't miss!

There's not magic formula for laces I'm afraid. The machine won't touch em, nor will stain removers, you've just gotta replace them with a new fresh set.

A useful tip for those who wear Selvage or Raw denim. As this type of denim in notorius for leaking indigo dye on to everything it touches it a good idea to protect your kicks from this indelible menace! You'll be pleased to know it's a cheap, easy fix! Simply use tape, either sticky or masking, its up to you.
Just run a strip of tape round the inside of your trouser leg where the denim touches your sneakers and you're sorted. No More Leaks!
